What ever happened to that Google lawsuit?
You know the one.
The one where everyone realized…
“Oh yeah…Google owns the air you breathe, and you can’t whisper a single cheeky word of ‘pillow talk’ without Alphabet serving you lingerie ads the next morning while you’re standing in line at Starbucks.”
That one.
Apparently, it’s still going on—as Google’s suggested stories were so kind to remind me this morning on Google Chrome…on my Google Pixel.
The Supreme Court under Trump is still pushing to rip Chrome off Google’s bumper, forcing the goliath to sell its web browser.
“Meet the old boss, same as the new boss, amirite?”
Go away, Google. We didn’t ask you.
Other solutions involve subtracting Ads from Google’s business portfolio…which makes sense.
Here’s a sports analogy for you:
- Search results are a football game.
- Google owns the stadium (Google Chrome).
- Google is also the ref.
- Google Ads lets the ref own one of the teams.
At this point, why doesn’t Google just buy every website in the world and end this charade?
“We tried already!”
Get out of my email, Google.
Who knows what’ll end up happening. Google owns everyone. I feel like the final Supreme Court judgment will sound a little like:
“Best we can do is divest Google of an ‘O.’ Everyone, meet Gogle. No longer a monopoly.”
But here’s the real point…
No One is Coming to Save You
A lot of marketers and business owners are holding their breath, waiting for Google’s iron grip on search and ads to end.
Why?
Do you think your ad cost will magically drop by half if Google sells their PPC machine?
Do you think your search rankings will rise from the ashes just because Google sells Chrome?
Google doesn’t even tell the truth about how they rank websites, for Gog’s sake.
Good luck playing Google’s game.
Google already knows what you’ll eat for breakfast at 8:26 AM EST on July 23, 2029.
See, the savviest businesses and marketers know they can’t beat Google.
They work their goggles off to siphon cash and customers away from Google…
Into their world.
Usually, that means an email list.
Why an Email List Beats Google at Its Own Game
With an email list:
- You make the rules.
- You control the narrative.
- You decide how much you pay to reach your audience.
Try saying the same about Google Ads or SEO.
If your email list is collecting dust, you’re handing over control of your business to Google.
It’s time to fix that.
